The platform for the best conference venues in The Hague.

The Hague Venues is an organization dedicated to further establishing The Hague as a leading conference city. “We offer an overview of a wide range of conference venues across the city. For every conference, The Hague has the right venue,” says Tom Verhaar, outgoing chairman of The Hague Venues and Managing Director of the Fokker Terminal. The Hague Venues is the go-to hub for all conference locations in The Hague — a place where knowledge, expertise, and experience come together. This makes things easy and clear for you as a conference or event organizer.

The Venues of The Hague Venues

The locations affiliated with The Hague Venues are highly diverse, offering a wide range of possibilities for different types of events. At The Hague Venues, you'll find:

  • Industrial and modern conference venues: such as the Fokker Terminal, De Remise, World Forum, The Hague Conference Centre, and Postilion Convention Centre. Each of these venues has its own unique atmosphere and often offers multiple breakout spaces.
  • Museums: including the Kunstmuseum, Museon-Omniversum, Mauritshuis, and the Louwman Museum. These venues provide the opportunity to host events in a chic or artistic setting, often combined with guided tours or exhibitions.
  • Theatres: such as Amare, featuring large auditoriums that can accommodate both small and large groups for events — from conferences to presentations, with the added option of incorporating a performance into your event.
  • Iconic buildings: like the Grote Kerk and the Nieuwe Kerk. These stunning historic churches offer an impressive setting for dinners, performances, or even trade fairs.
  • Political venues: such as Nieuwspoort. You can’t get any closer to the heart of politics!
  • Theme park: like Madurodam. All of the Netherlands in miniature, with plenty of options for organizing corporate events.

The wide variety of venues ensures that there’s a suitable location for every type of event — whether it’s a business conference, a cultural gathering, or an informal meet-up.

Centrally Located Venues in the Randstad

All affiliated venues are primarily dedicated conference locations with breakout spaces and a minimum capacity of 150 people. “These are venues that are available seven days a week for hosting large conferences and events, and they’re fully equipped for that purpose,” explains Tom.

“When we look at where attendees of conferences in The Hague come from, we see that 80% are from the Randstad. It often surprises people, but The Hague is extremely centrally located within the Randstad. On top of that, the venues are ideally situated for conferences with ties to politics, law, and peace. The national government is primarily based in the western part of the country—especially in The Hague. But the same goes for many corporates, international organizations, and security institutions like Europol."

"With The Hague Venues, we make it easy and straightforward for organizers who are planning conferences right in the heart of the Randstad.”

The Venues of The Hague Venues Reinforce One Another

One of the great things about The Hague Venues is that it gives you a clear overview of everything The Hague has to offer when it comes to conference and event venues. “Every event is different, just like the number of participants,” says Tom. “That means clients end up at different venues depending on their needs. For example, they might take private bankers to the Mauritshuis, and throw a staff party that brings the house down at the Grote Kerk.”

The venues actively collaborate with one another. “If someone comes to the Fokker Terminal with a request for 150 people, that might be possible during the low season, but in general we focus on larger conferences. In that case, we look within The Hague Venues to find a location that’s a better fit for the request. It also happens that organizers share their event expectations, and you immediately know they’d be better off at De Remise or at The Hague Conference Centre. Venues refer clients to one another and often point them to the The Hague Venues website for the full range of options in the city.”

What’s particularly convenient about The Hague Venues is that, with just one click, you can request quotes and check availability from multiple affiliated venues at once.

Tom’s Tip:
“When planning your event or conference, consider the option of hosting it at multiple locations. Start the day at Venue A, hop on a tram and head to Venue B for an inspiring session, then move on to Venue C for a fantastic dinner, and spend the night at Venue D. This way, you allow participants to truly experience The Hague as a conference city and give your event an extra dimension.”

The Origins of The Hague Venues

The founders of The Hague Venues set out with a clear mission: to put The Hague on the map as an attractive conference city. “Everyone who runs a venue in The Hague has their own marketing strategy. But you can also join forces with other venues and promote the city together,” explains Tom. And so it began in 2019 — five venues came together to form The Hague Venues. Today, the network includes fourteen venues and seven partners. These partners typically provide essential services such as furniture, technology, catering, or event staff.

The Team Behind The Hague Venues

The Hague Venues is led by a board of three members. Tom Verhaar served as chairman for six years and is now handing over the role to Bart van Doorn (from Madurodam). In addition, there is a dedicated staff member who acts as the main contact for clients reaching out to The Hague Venues. Incoming inquiries are quickly directed to the appropriate person at the right venue.

There is also a representative from The Hague & Partners on the team, who serves as an advisor. “The Hague & Partners focuses on city marketing and international conferences,” Tom explains. “Both organizations share the goal of strengthening The Hague’s position on the map, so we coordinate closely. We combine forces wherever possible.”
